The Whole Genome Sequencing Quality Control Standard is now open for public comment

Learn more about and share your feedback on the Whole Genome Sequencing Quality Control (WGSQC) Standard.

The Whole Genome Sequencing Quality Control (WGSQC) Standard is now open for public comment. During this period, we invite feedback from all members of the genomics and health community. Comments are due by 15 August 2025.

Despite growing efforts to share whole genome sequencing (WGS) data across research and clinical initiatives, the lack of standardised quality control definitions and methodologies remains a major barrier. WGSQC provides a structured set of formally defined quality control metrics and usage guidelines for short-read germline WGS data. These standards aim to establish a common foundation for quality assessment, enabling consistent reporting, improved interoperability, and greater confidence in WGS data integrity across initiatives.
