Announcing two new GA4GH Implementation Forum (GIF) Projects

22 Jul 2025

GIF projects are real-world implementations that put GA4GH products into practice.

Cloud-based BRCA Exchange variant analysis environment using GA4GH standards in Camber

To enable scalable, reproducible, and standards-based genomic analyses, this GIF project integrates BRCA Exchange variant data with GA4GH standards using Camber, a cloud-based scientific computing environment that provides low or no-code interfaces, for running simulations, analysing large datasets, and training Artificial Intelligence. The project aims to adapt and extend community-driven standards to support interoperable workflows, variant annotation, and metadata description. Learn more about how to get involved here. You can also express interest in participating in the project here.

TRE Open Suite

The TRE Open Suite project is a multi-year initiative under the GA4GH Implementation Forum (GIF) focused on developing an open, extensible technical framework and Software Development Kit (SDK) for building and deploying the technical foundations for Trusted Research Environments (TREs). The framework integrates state-of-the-art security technologies with GA4GH standards to support modular, policy-compliant TRE configurations across federated, multi-cloud research ecosystems. Learn more about how to get involved here. The project team will host a kickoff meeting on 4 August. Register here for the calendar invitation.
