GA4GH GIF Spotlight is now open for public comment

The GA4GH Implementation Forum (GIF) is seeking feedback on a new mechanism: GIF Spotlights. During this period, we invite feedback from all members of the genomics and health community on the structure and aims of this new initiative. Comments are due by 23 October 2025.

The GA4GH Implementation Forum (GIF) promotes the real-world use of GA4GH standards through collaboration, interoperability, and community best practices. While current GIF initiatives — such as GIF projects and GIF Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions — offer structured pathways for collaboration, there remains a need for a more lightweight and rapid mechanism to share implementation experiences.

GIF is seeking feedback on a new mechanism: GIF Spotlights. A GIF Spotlight is a concise, practical narrative of how an organisation or initiative is using GA4GH standards, published on the GA4GH website. GIF Spotlights aim to accelerate community learning, highlight adoption successes, and create low-barrier opportunities for feedback to standards developers. Spotlights are open to contributions from all regions, institutions, and resource levels.

During this period, we invite feedback from all members of the genomics and health community on the structure and aims of this new initiative. Comments are due by 23 October 2025.
