As GA4GH continues to grow as an organisation, scale implementation, and engage in more communities around the world, we have set out to understand whether our current organisational structure still supports our mission and vision.
Following feedback sessions with the GA4GH leadership community, we have drafted six proposals to improve the way GA4GH operates. We invite you to review the proposals and share your feedback with us by 24 November 2026. A brief description of each proposal can be found below:
Proposal 1: Establish a regular roadmapping cycle to ensure GA4GH’s product portfolio is aligned with its strategic goals
Proposal 2: Consolidate the Work Streams to promote collaboration between aligned groups and improve the way newcomers navigate GA4GH
Proposal 3: Replace Communities of Interest with a set of use cases across three domains of interest to ensure Work Streams are directly addressing community needs
Proposal 4: Develop clear pathways for newcomers, with everyone invited to an orientation session
Proposal 5: Transform the Driver Project model by basing recognition on verified activity
Proposal 6: Develop a sustainability plan to help contributors fund their contributions to GA4GH and to sustain GA4GH core operations
