GA4GH core funders and sponsors enable our work and allow us to convene the international genomic data sharing community.

Host Institutions

Host Institutions provide services and administrative support (e.g. space, grants management, and human resources) on behalf of GA4GH.

Broad Institute
The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard has been a host institution of the GA4GH since its inception.
The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR), funded by the Ontario Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science, has been a host institution of the GA4GH since 2013.
Sanger Institute
The Wellcome Sanger Institute (WSI) has been a host institution of the GA4GH since 2014.
Sanger Institute
The EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) has been a host institution of the GA4GH since 2020.

GA4GH Funder’s Forum

The GA4GH Funder’s Forum consists of our Core Funders—entities that provide a funding commitment of more than US$200,000 per year for a minimum of three years for projects that relate to developing standards and framing policy for responsible genomic and health-related data sharing.

Genome Canada
Genome Canada is a not-for-profit organization, funded by the Government of Canada. Genome Canada acts as a catalyst for developing and applying genomics+ and genomic-based technologies to create economic and social benefits.
CIHR
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is Canada’s federal funding agency for health research. Composed of 13 Institutes, CIHR collaborate with partners and researchers to support the discoveries and innovations that improve our health and strengthen our health care system.
NIH
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) fund GA4GH through the following institutes:

  • National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI)
  • National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI)
  • National Cancer Institute (NCI)
  • Office of Data Science Strategy (ODSS)
  • Office of the Director / All of Us Research Project
Wellcome has been a core funder of the GA4GH since 2014.
Medical Research Council has been a core funder of the GA4GH since 2020.
National Institute for Health Research has been a core funder of the GA4GH since 2021.
